Shantigar is founded on the belief that disciplined artistic, meditative, and healing practices parallel and enrich each other, and that strengthening any of our three bodies – physical, mental, or spiritual – strengthens the other two bodies too. Jean-Claude van Itallie
Shantigar welcomes skilled and gifted body workers, nutritionists, homeopaths, herbologists, accupuncturists, practitioners of preventative and Ayurvedic medicine, transpersonal psychotherapists, and other authentic healers who activate a joyous sense of being well. (Shantigar’s founder, a self-styled “health nut,” has long enjoyed good health through rigorous adherence to various health practices – physical, emotional, and spiritual.)
Shantigar’s new Cloud Mountain community building will include spaces for visiting healers to introduce their work to community members and workshop participants.
The sweat lodge in the Shantigar woods is a beautiful venue for healing. The new community building will house a sauna and a gym. Annually Shantigar hosts the renown master teacher and Continuum Movement founder Emilie Conrad (author of Life on Land). Shantigar also co-sponsors Emilie Conrad's ground-breaking work with people living with paraplegia.
"For me, the healing embrace of Shantigar begins with the softness of the lush green that invites one in gradually, careful not to overwhelm with its subtle magic." Emilie Conrad
