This 4-day workshop will provide a new context to experiment and play with your voice’s range, texture and character. The work includes singing and other approaches to music using your voice. The weekend is open to anyone wishing to engage creatively and explore new musical worlds, with or without previous training. The exact nature of our workshop will vary according to the experience and wishes of each participant.

Jonathan Hart Makwaia has taught voice for more than 40 years, in more than 30 countries. Jonathan teaches at the Roy Hart Theatre in France where he also has served as composer and musical director (and received an OBIE award for “Pagliacci” at La MaMa ETC in NYC). Jonathan performs solo concerts for voice and piano throughout Europe, South America, and the USA, integrating contemporary, classical, and African influences. His CD, The Wild is Rising, was described by the NY Times as “a spectacular display of vocal timbres and techniques.” Jonathan has been on the faculty of NYU’s Experimental Theatre Wing since 1988.
