This workshop offers time to explore your voice—range, energy and character—and to pursue all the implications, musical and other, arising from these explorations. We'll have moments of singing and moments of improvising, solo and ensemble work.

    Open to anyone wishing to engage creatively with their voice, whether or not they have had previous training. The exact nature of the work will change according to the experience and aspirations of each participant.

 

Workshop starts promptly on Friday, July 12 at

3:00 PM and ends on Sunday, July 14 at 1:00 PM.


$333 for weekend.

Organic meals included.

Some onsite lodging available, and free tenting.

Jonathan Hart Makwaia has taught voice for over 30 years, leading workshops in more than 30 countries. He continues to teach and present new work at the Roy Hart Centre in France each summer where he served as musical director from 1975 to 1988 (OBIE award for PAGLIACCI at La MaMa in NYC). He performs solo concerts for voice and piano around Europe and the USA. "A spectacular display of vocal timbres and techniques," The New York Times. Available on CD: The Wild Is Rising. Jonathan has taught at the Experimental Theatre Wing at NYU since 1988.
